6-Month Wait Now 7-8 Months

We have some news that may be considered discouraging or encouraging, depending on how you look at it. As we have discussed with many of you, our daughter's referral was to arrive approximately six months following our dossier login date, which for us was June 29. At that time, we were planning to receive our daughter's referral in January and travel in March.

As a result of an increasing number of families submitting their paperwork to China for adoption, the China Center for Adoption Affairs has more dossiers to process each month, which can result in delays.

That means our adoption timeline is lengthening from a six-month wait for referral to a 7-8 month wait. We're now looking at
receiving a referral in March and traveling in May. There is no guarantee that our wait will not lengthen further, but we have our fingers crossed.

We're trying to look on the bright side - more babies are being matched with their new families, we'll travel in nicer weather, and Anne will have maternity leave over the summer. But it's easy to feel discouraged. Please keep us and the other families in your thoughts as we slog through this very long wait.
