Ava Goes To Pre-School

Today Ava attended her first half-day of morning pre-school! Anne and Scott had been playing up this grand event for weeks, and all the "you are such a big girl" and "you're going to be awesome" and "you'll have so much fun" and "please don't use your fake words," preparation really paid off!

Donning her shiny new backpack and glowing winter coat, Ava proudly paraded around the house prior to our departure. When we arrived, Ava quickly looked like a pro. She had a big smile on her face, put on her slippers, and ran over to Mom and Dad for hugs and kisses. And that was that. She was brave, and smiled proudly as we walked away. Anne drove to work, and Scott drove to the coffee shop, a haircut and back home for some laundry, a little reading, a little Web site work and even a smidge of lunch prep. It would be mac n' cheese, Ava's favorite dish, to celebrate her first day.

Scott dropped by at Noon to pick her up. The children were outside playing, and Ava was happy! In fact, she didn't exactly want to leave. We couldn't have asked for a better result. The teachers said Ava did "wonderfully," and was so "incredibly adaptable" to everything they did. Now Dad was happy! Ava even used the bathroom when she needed to. A glowing report. After a final ride on the tire swing, Ava said goodbye to her now cold and rosy-cheeked friends, and we headed home (and Dad called Mom immediately). Tomorrow Dad will chaperone a morning fieldtrip. Daddy believes this is only the beginning.
