Ava slept very well last night, about 9 hours of solid sleep. We did, too. Yes!! It's 10:30 a.m. here and we've already took showers, washed bottles and went down for breakfast. Ava had some grilled sweet potato, banana and watermelon and about half a bottle after that. The first time we tried to put Ava in a high chair she totally freaked, but the last two times have been a charm. We learned that we need to make sure she is not too full when we sit her down and we have to begin feeding her right away. After eating a while she just sits there and observes all the activity.
The thing that struck us about the White Swan breakfast buffet is the sheer number of couples and babies. The place was just overflowing with new families. It was also fun to see Jim, Juleen (and now baby Marie) again, as we have not seen them since Beijing. (We picked up our babies in different provinces.)
We just exchanged some more U.S. dollars for Yuan. It's always a good feeling to get 11 one hundred "dollar" bills back for one U.S. hundred dollar bill and a fifty. Okay, it's time to do some shopping.

I think all of your posting is amazing, guys, thanks so much for all of the great news and photos. I'm loading up a video right now! From your posts, Ava reminds me of my friend Yohan's son, Fidelis, that I spent three weeks with in Bali. He turned one year old on July 4th. He also was intensely curious, having just started to walk, and wanted to grab everything, always reaching out his hands and grasping towards stuff he saw. He also loved simple "toys", any kind of small item laying around, over his actual toys. His favorite was putting small things inside any container of some sort, shaking it around, then pulling or shaking the small thing out of the container. He also had some lungs on him. Whoo. Sometimes you would be holding him and get the earsplitting siren an inch away from your ear. He also loved balls, any kind of rubber ball to kick or throw around. One time I was holding him and he was reaching towards some soccer balls hanging up in a mesh bag at a shop. We had to get going, so I tried to turn away from the balls so he would stop shrieking, but he continued to spin back towards the balls and elbowed me twice, in quick succession, right in the throat. Awww! As you can see, I'm pretty into these cute little babies myself. We would beatbox for him, too, and he would start dancing in a hilarious baby way. Maybe we can have a dance party with Ava soon too! Can't wait to meet her. It's wild looking at these photos and thinking, wow, I'll know this person for the rest of my life. Have a great day, Anne, Scott, and Ava Bogen...
Love,
Mike
What adorable pictures. We love waiting for the next pictures of Ava to arrive. One last day in China for all of you and Ava's American citizenship will be finalized. We are counting the days until we see you all. We love you. Grandma Randi and Grandpa Al
She is just darling, you must feel so proud. I remember the rush of emotions during those early days together. Continued safe travels and hope to maybe meet you when you're home!
